“5 Ways to Stay Fit Without Really Trying”

Sweating it out on the treadmill or in spin class might be a great way to stay in shape, but gym workouts isn’t just for everyone. The loud music, the mirrors, the over-friendly instructors. Sometimes it’s a bit full on, and it can also put a hole in your budget.

But, just because you despise the gym and (let’s be honest) working out in general, it doesn’t mean you can’t be fit!

Here are the five non-workout workouts even the most dedicated couch potatoes will love (*Apart from doing the housework, obviously.*)

Hit the Dance Floor

Dancing burns a lot a calories without even going to the gym.
Dancing burns a lot a calories without even going to the gym. So grab your girls and hit the club! A night out at the club with your girlfriends is always a good idea, as long as you lay off the creamy, calorie-laden cocktails! Wear your cutest outfit and work up a sweat to Justin Bieber on the dancefloor. Dancing is one heck of a workout – just check out any ballerina’s body! Hands down the funnest way to work out!

 Step it Up

Walk and take the stairs as much as possible.
Walk and take the stairs as much as possible. It isn’t hard, but it adds up. To reach your recommended 10, 000 steps each day, it’s time to get walking. Hop on the bus a few stops later and jump off a few stops earlier on your way back. Or better yet, walk the whole way! Instead of emailing your colleague at the other end of the office every time you have a question, get up and walk over there. And avoid the total awkwardness of sharing the elevator with your boss by taking the stairs. Your butt will thank you.

Do Your own Housework

Doing your housework will make you lose as much calories as working out.
Doing your housework will make you lose as much calories as working out. Plus this workout has a bonus: a sparkly clean house!  Ok, this one is very much less fun than shaking your booty to Beyonce, but it’s a necessary evil. And it burns some serious calories too! Not convinced? A 35 minutes of bathroom cleaning blitzes as many calories as 35 minutes walking on the treadmill. And vacuuming for 30 minutes not only helps with allergies, it burns around 90 calories. This is similar to what you’ll burn in 15 minutes of kick boxing!

Get a Puppy

Getting a puppy will make you move everytime.

Getting a puppy will make you move everytime. Cute and full of energy, puppies won’t let you sit still. As if you needed any excuse to add a puppy to your life, these adorable balls of energy basically force you to stay active. You’ll need to walk them twice a day, play fetch, and catch them when they go chasing after the neighbor’s cat. Even washing a dog is a great workout for your arms.

Add More Play to Your Day

Find out what you love and do it.

Find out what you love and do it. Find something you love, not dread. Even the expression ‘working out’ is kind of off-putting. It sounds like far too much, well, work. Kids have the right idea. They don’t ‘work out’, but they’re usually super fit from all their play time. Instead of dreading your next workout, find your favorite type of ‘play’. Whether that’s a game of doubles tennis, body boarding, exploring on your bike, or climbing a tree! If it’s something you look forward to, keeping fit is easy and fun.

My Styling Tips #1

My Styling Tips #1

Today I’ll be sharing with you guys a styling tip by WhoWhatWear!

Say hello to your complete guide to “What Shoes to Wear With Your Skinny Jeans”

Well I assume that you’re a fan of skinny jeans, and I assume that you’ve probably faced this dilemma countless of times during your life. That you’ve put together a super-cute outfit with your favorite pair of skin-tight jeans, and you have absolutely no idea what shoes to wear with them.

Depending on the occasion, strappy heels might feel too dressy; a flat sandal can sometimes look too bulky; and you feel like you just can’t pull off a sneaker.

So scroll down for your complete guide to what shoes to wear with skinny jeans!

Classic Sneakers

Arguably the most trend shoe at the moment. The Classic Lace Up Sneaker definitely should have a place in your wardrobe, especially when you paired it with a solid skinny jean! These work well when you’re having a super casual daytime event, or simply running errands in a slouchy T-shirt and jeans!

Flat Sandals

If you’re heading for brunch or a casual cocktail hour after work, style your skinnies with a pair of flat sandals. A more neutral sandal works well with this jean style to keep your look more simple, but don’t be afraid to step outside the box and sport a pair of statement slides as well!

Yes, those simple flats can be more than just the shoes you wear to and from the office every day. They can also dress up a pair of skinny jeans in a very sleek and simple way. Just opt for a classic pairs for a polished look, or embrace the embellishments and fun textures for an instant skinny-jean upgrade!

 Slip-On Sneakers

The other major trend shoes right now also happen to look stellar with your pair of skinny. Both the platform and classic styles of the slip-on shoes look sleek when paired with this type of denim. Just feel free to play around with fun colors and prints too! The slip-on world is your oyster!

Strappy Heels

Forgo all other shoe options in favor of those strappy heels. You have a lot of freedom here when it comes to color. Everything from a simple, understated black version to a wild pop of colors or prints, it will work! But just be sure to steer clear of patent and other shiny, potentially inexpensive-looking fabrics.

Classic Pointy Pumps

If you ever want a sleek and easy way to dress up a pair of skinny jeans, you must definitely reach for your favorite pair of pointy-toe pumps! Black or nude are always the best classic options. But if you want to make more of a statement, definitely reach for a pop of color like red, snakeskin, or cobalt!

Ankle Booties

Here’s a little-known secret exclusively just for you! Ankle boots seem to never be going out of style. This season, opt for fresh styles like all-white, printed, and the best ever classic black. For fit wise, you preferably want a jean that hits right above the top of the boots too!

What is your favorite way to style your skinny jeans? Share with me! Just let me know in the reply section below!

Be A Successful Blogger

Be A Successful Blogger

If there’s even a tiny part of you that aims to become a fashion blogger (and not only become one, but also a truly successful blogger) you know it’s a crowded, competitive space. The best way to learn how to navigate it is simple: go straight to the top bloggers themselves, and find out how they did it.

Aimee Song, creator of the blog Song of Style, plus-size bloggers extraordinaire, Gabi Fresh and Nicolette Mason, and Raina Penchansky, the Chief Strategy Officer of blogger management behemoth Digital Brand Architects. They sat down to pick their brains on the best way to climb the blogger ladder from unknown to unforgettable (and making millions).

Scroll down more to get their 7 top tips on becoming a successful fashion blogger!

  • First, ask yourself: how is my blog different from everyone else’s?

“If you’re a blogger just starting out, I would start with asking yourself the question why,” Raina Penchansky says. “What’s your point of differentiation? There’s a great rule of thumb: no one needs another _______. Come up with a really compelling reason as to why you’re doing something. ”

“For new bloggers, it’s important to be different and stand out, rather than following what everybody else is doing or what is trendy that moment,” Aimee Song echoes.

  • You have to know exactly who your audience is and how they interact with you.

“Remembering why you blog and why people follow you is the key,” Song says. “Never lose sight of that, no matter how successful you become.”

“The people who find the most success are the people who understand that there’s an element to this that is analytics-based,” Penchansky explains. “You have to really pay attention to the back-end of your business. Ask: who is your audience? How do they engage with you? The people who find the most success are the people who understand their analytics—what does my audience want from me, and who am I talking to? Do they want to see me launch a collection, or do they want to see a book from me?”

  • Instagram is your new best friend.

“If you’re starting a blog today, you pretty much have to start with Instagram,” Penchansky boldly states. “The fastest way to build your brand is Instagram.”

“Honestly, blogs are dying out, because Instagram is taking their place,” Gabi Fresh adds. “Especially with style bloggers, our whole thing is photos, so if we have a platform to show our outfits, we’re going to use it. Thankfully, I still get high traffic to my site, but my comments are down, because people are looking at and discussing my pictures on Instagram. The interaction is much more done on Instagram and Facebook these days. ”

“Instagram became a great way to discover new blogs and fashion inspiration,” Song adds. “For me, it’s been yet another medium to engage with my audience.”

  • But high-quality content really is the most important thing.

“Content is king. Regardless of what [social network] is most popular at the moment—if you’re producing amazing content, you’ll always have a platform,” Penchansky advises. “When you first start your blog, stay focused on just creating amazing content for six months to a year. Brands will come crawling, invites will roll in, but first and foremost, figure out your point of view. That’s the most important thing.”

“There’s a lot of steps involved in being successful, but the most important thing is just focusing on your content,” Gabi Fresh adds. “To take it to the next level, you need consistency [in terms of publishing regularly] and make sure you have clear photos. Your content will speak for itself.”

  • You have to know yourself well enough to build your brand.

“Remember: what’s right for you isn’t necessarily what someone else is doing,” Penchansky says. “There is an element of risk-taking. Relationships with brands is a great vehicle for monetization, but it’s also not so much about what brand am I going to be paid for, but how do I myself become a brand in a truthful and an organic way? It varies from person to person—there are going to be some people who have Target lines, some people who have single products they sell on their site; you have to know what works for you.”

“The thing to know is that you should really be discriminating about what is encompassed in your personal style, and what you want to pursue professionally,” Nicolette Mason adds. “I think a lot of people make the mistake of doing everything, and diluting their own vision and their own approach toward fashion. You have to learn to say no.”

  • The most successful bloggers are those with true personality.

“There are only so many ways to shoot a certain a photo, but if you have a personality and you showcase that personality, that’s the point of differentiation,” Penchansky says. “Don’t try to be something you think is what everyone wants you to be. Be genuine. It sounds like the most cliché thing, because it truly is what resonates. People say this about actors: that there’s just something about them I really like. The same holds true for digital talent as well, so you have to show that side of yourself.”

“Always stay true to yourself and don’t chase money or fame,” Song adds. “That’s essential to long-lasting success in my mind. If you are doing what you love, money will follow.”

  • Ask yourself: What does my ideal team look like?

“It takes a village—at a certain point, you have to acknowledge that Rome wasn’t built in a day or by one person,” Penchansky says. “What will your team look like? You want people who come in and bring a different point of view—we only work with people if we add value.”

“I recommend bloggers engage with the plus-size community, whether they’re plus-size or not,” Mason adds. “It’s a really active space—if you’re really in it from a genuine space, it only helps to engage with the plus-size space.”

My Blogging Tips

My Blogging Tips

“What topic should I write about?”

We are all always new to something. And when it comes to blogging, I admit I was once a blogging newbie before. It’s always the same questions I get each time I start a draft. What topic should I write about?

Indeed this is the first, and biggest, decision every blogger must make. This will either lead to a blog you’ll love writing or one you painfully regret.

To start a blog is simple, but to keep it alive is challenging. I’ve always had a hard time thinking of topics to write about, a topic that’ll capture my readers (all you guys reading this). There’s so many things out there on the web to talk about and it can be very confusing!

I started my first blog over at ( back at 2013 but somehow I just didn’t like how my overall looks like, so I stopped. I jumped around a few blogging platforms before I landed myself on ( And boy, I’m so glad I’m a WordPress Blogger! It’s by far one of the biggest blogging platforms in the world, with countless plugins and add-ons and almost infinite ways to design and layout your blog. Psst, there are more than 82 million active users of WordPress. That’s a lot, basically.

Okay, let us now get back to my main topic now; Here, I’ve gathered the top trending blog topics that most bloggers write about. 6 Blog Topics That Will Surely Fascinate Your Readers.

  • Give A Piece Of Yourself: Personal life

Everyone has a story to share. Talk about your success, opinions, thoughts, rants, embarrassing moments, and lessons of the day. People love reading about what others have experienced in their lives.

I (must and insist) highly recommend this topic if you’re just starting out your new blog. For one, you can finish your (not-so-much) personal story easily in less than an hour as compared to a topic that requires more brain cells. That will make it faster to push posts out, giving your blog more views. Boost your popularity too by teaching a valuable lesson at the end of each story. Or better yet, crack in some jokes.

  • Eat to live, Live to Eat: Food

It’s incredible how many food blogs exist, and the new ones popping up each day. Whether it’s about strict diets, restaurants, or recipes, food is basically a topic that anyone can relate to. So if you love cooking or eating, this will be a fun and easy topic for you.

Not to mention all the countless stories where stay-at-home moms or solo-entrepreneurs become successful food bloggers. If you wish to be like them, be sure you have enough money to cover your utility bills and rent; it can be quite an investment. But if you like to build a cult following for your blog, you’ll need to one, up against thousands of other food bloggers. Share your insight, provide new ideas, and most importantly, be involved with your readers. Because in this modern era, social relationships is key to a blog’s success.

  • Around the World: Travel

Who doesn’t enjoy traveling, much less, sharing their experience?

Post your photos, talk about your exciting adventures, and showcase the hotspots that you’ve been to. You’ll bring a whole new experience to readers from a fresh first person’s perspective. That’s something where the Travel Channel cannot even offer to their premium customers.

Now, not many people can write about this topic. Traveling is I admit a luxurious activity. Imagine all the money that’s needed to cover the air flight, hotel, food, and not to forget, shopping needs. That’s exactly what every person dreams of having. And if they can’t get it, they’ll have to do the next best thing: read about it.

  • The Critiquer: Product reviews

For instant. Before you buy something online, you would rely on product reviews to make your final decision. Right? With the online market growing exponentially fast, this is a great topic to jump in, especially if you like to critique about products that you love and hate.

It’s no surprise that more and more people are blogging into this field. However, this topic isn’t suited for just anyone. You can write good reviews, but the ones people trust are the ones that can sell. So if persuasive writing is one of your strong traits, you can definitely pass for a critiquer and get more people back on your blog to hear your opinions.

  • Staying in Style: Fashion

Fashion is, by and large, the fastest market to change. The underlying fact is, people want to look good, which is why fashion is a multi-billion dollar industry and why you should consider this topic!

Talk about the trendy styles of the month or what you thought of Miss America’s dress. If you like, you can even splurge at the mall, take pictures of your new outfits, and share it with the world. I bet you any fashion fanatic would want to read it!

  • Being a Mentor: How-To Guides

The phrase, “how to,” is one of the most common search terms that people ask. Often, they like to take matter into their own hands without relying on anyone. The only problem with most how-to guides out there is that they’re either outdated or confusing. (Yup!)

If you like helping others and are a natural at giving clear instructions, you’d be adding values to your community. And add on to that, your reputation as well. You’ll stand out as the authority who people will look up to for help. Plus, if your content exceeds expectations, it’ll more likely get bookmarked, shared, perhaps even looked back years later.

Found any that caught your interest? If not, here’s more topics that you might want to look into.

  • Ideas Generator — People are pretty lazy or just don’t have time when it comes to brainstorming ideas. Throw them 50 crazy birthday party ideas or think of 70 ways to make small talk with a stranger. Work those creative juices of yours!
  • Do It Yourself (DIY) — Want to show everyone your dainty handicrafts? You’ll inspire people to take arts & craft in your “class.”
  • Novels/Books — Keep the book tradition alive. Share the latest novels with enthusiastic readers, or promote your book.
  • Photography — What’s more pleasing, a blog with 1,000 words or crystal clear high-quality photos? Impress people with your camera skills. You might win the award for Saveur’s “Best Photography” blog.
  • Relationships — Whether it’s friends, family, your boss, your boyfriend/girlfriend, people you admire, people you despise, this topic will always spark everyone’s interest.
  • News — Find yourself always the first to spill out the news? Why not set up your own little blog news station? With the newer generations now reading everything online, you’ll have the upper hand.
  • Sports — Whether you’re into basketball, golf, or martial arts, shout out your favorite teams or share your thoughts on who the best players are. You’ll stir up a crowd.
  • Technology — Believe technology will change the world? So does a lot of techies and engineers, and not to mention all the kids growing up with Iphones and tablets.
  • Health — Modern trends are leaning towards good health. Organic, all natural, fat-free, without pesticide, grass fed, whole wheat, wild caught, just to name a few. Be a health advisor and inform everyone how to live better, and longer.
  • Career — Have the most awesome job in the world? Tell everyone about your work life, the relationships you’ve formed, and what motivates you to succeed. They’ll wish they had your life.
  • Self-Improvement — Life is always about improvement. No matter what situation people are in, everyone wants to be better. Help them out, and when you need it, they’ll help you.
  • Fictional Stories — If you’re full of imagination and can’t resist writing, write a story. People love reading stories from enthusiastic writers.

And that’s it! I’m more than confident that your first blog post should now be finished and ready to go, and all that should have been really damn easy (unlike my first time, lucky you!).

If by some unfortunate circumstance you get stuck or have any questions for me, just get in touch with me or leave a comment below. I’ll be more than happy to help you out with any problems.

Enjoy your new blog!

Happy 3rd Anniversary

Happy 3rd Anniversary

11 October 2016.

To you guys, today’s just another same old day like others. But to me, today’s an extremely special day. Let me tell you a short story why;Throwback to this day 3 years ago was the first date that he asked me out. And if he hadn’t given up on asking me to be his Girlfriend, we wouldn’t be here today. It took him 5 tries before I finally said yes. I know.

Yes, 3 years past but it felt as though we’ve been through this journey for 30 years. From a Fairy Tale relationship to having a WarZone period, and to a point where we almost became strangers, I’m really thankful that we didn’t give up on each other. Our dreams and plans for the future. And from our love, there come Siti Nur Syaqilah Binte Muhammad Irfan Shah. This is just the beginning my dear.

I admit, we still have a very long list of tasks that we still need to work on together. From being a couple to having responsibilities for the family. From being each other’s pain in the asses to being treated like King & Queen. But hey, at least I don’t have to call you goodnight or sent you a morning text cause it’s you that I’m sleeping with and waking up to. And it’ll still be the same you till we both became Grandparents to Syaqilah’s children and Insha Allah Great Grandparents to her children’s children. Yup, we sure have a very long way to go.

So here’s a Happy 3rd Anniversary to my Mr Muhammad Irfan Shah for being my Best Friend, my Soul Mate and the Father to our lil Princess. Remember that I have loved you, I still love you and I will always love you till the end of my breath @storiesofthemirror 💕
